Mission

The mission of First Steps, Inc. is to educate and care for children with special needs and medical conditions alongside their typically developing peers in inclusive environments and support their families.

First Steps, Inc. is a leading agency in the field of early childhood education and has been around for over 50 years. We work with children and families in both early childhood education and early childhood special education because we believe that every child deserves a great start.

FLOATER Responsibilities

  • Assist Classroom Teachers in providing developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for all children in the classroom.
  • Collaborate closely with the Occupational, Physical, Speech/Language, and Developmental Therapists at our center, as well as with the families of children, in a concerted effort to gain a thorough understanding of each child’s individual challenges.
  • Assist Classroom Teachers with developmental assessments and other documentation required for children in the classroom.
  • Help ensure appropriate adaptions are made for children with special needs.
  • Help ensure classroom designs and operations meet TN State licensing standards and upholds the 3-Star Rating Program and Tennessee’s Early Learning Standards

    Minimum Qualifications

    We would love to hear from you if you are at least 18 years of age and have at least a High School diploma and experience working with young children.
